Peach Ginger Iced Tea
Recipe from Summer Iced Tea Recipes: 50+ Regular, Herbal, Milk, and Fruity Teas
Prep: 10 min Cook: 1 hour Serves: 4
Ingredients
1 quart water
4-5 black tea bags
1-inch fresh ginger, thinly sliced
2 fresh peaches, sliced
Sugar or honey, to taste
Directions
- In a large pot, bring 1 quart water to a boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in the sugar to dissolve. If using honey, add with the peaches so the heat doesn’t destroy the health benefits.
- Add tea bags and let steep for 5 minutes.
- During the last 2 minutes, add the ginger slices and let steep to infuse the spicy flavor.
- Remove the tea bags.
- While the tea is still warm, add the peach slices (and honey if using) and let steep as it cools.
- Refrigerate for 1 hour to chill and infuse all the flavors.
- Strain out the solids and serve over ice.
Fun Fact!
Ginger is not a root, even though it is listed as ‘ginger root’ on your grocery store app. It’s actually a rhizome, like a potato. Dating back over 5,000 years, it was first documented in China, Southeast Asia, and India and was an expensive spice. In the 14th century, one pound of ginger cost the same as one sheep!
