Fried Deviled Eggs Recipe

Fried Deviled Eggs

Recipe from Deviled Eggs: 30+ Recipes for Picnics, BBQ’s, Holidays, Parties, and Everyday Snacks

Prep: 25 min  Cook: 5 min  Servings: 6

Ingredients

Oil, for frying

6 large hard-boiled eggs, peeled and halved

3 Tbs mayonnaise

2 tsp finely chopped dill pickle relish

1 tsp Dijon mustard

1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

3/4 tsp kosher salt, divided

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

1 cup panko (Japanese-style bread crumbs)

1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

Chopped fresh chives

Paprika

Hot sauce, for serving

Directions

  • Heat the oil: In a large Dutch oven or heavy pot, heat 1 ½ inches of oil to 360°F over medium-high heat.
  • Prepare yolk filling: In a bowl, add the egg yolks, mayonnaise, relish, Dijon, black pepper, ½ tsp salt and mash until smooth and thoroughly combined. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl, add the flour.
  • In a second bowl, add the beaten eggs.
  • In a third bowl, add the panko bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, cayenne, ¼ tsp salt, and mix together.
  • Prepare the egg whites for frying: Dredge each egg white half in the flour. Gently shake to remove excess flour and then dip into the beaten eggs. Allow excess beaten egg to drip, then dredge in the panko bread crumb mixture. Set aside on a plate.
  • Fry the egg whites: Working in 2 batches, fry the egg whites in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Adjust heat as needed to maintain 360°
  • Transfer fried egg whites to a paper towel-lined plate
  • Make the deviled eggs: Spoon the yolk filling into the center of the fried egg whites and garnish with chives and paprika.
  • Serve warm with hot sauce.
